The Japanese Forum of Psychoanalytic Self Psychology (JFPSP),
which is affiliated with the International Association for Psychoanalytic
Self Psychology (IAPSP), is an independent, professional organization
for mental health workers and professionals who are interested in self
psychology and other contemporary psychoanalytic theories. The
Forum is devoted to the study and research of self psychological
theories and clinical approaches, and to the education of skilled and
resourceful psychoanalytic psychotherapists.
Our member-limited regular theoretical discussions and peer-
supervision groups are usually arranged in Kobe and Hiroshima,
Japan. Members of the Forum are invited to present their writings
for the discussions and their own clinical material for the supervision
groups. In addition, we provide an annual open seminar for mental
health professionals interested in self psychology. Please check out
our website to obtain more information about our upcoming events.
We are affiliated with a psychoanalytic institute in New York, USA,
the Training and Research Institute for Self Psychology (TRISP).
TRISP, founded by experienced and skillful psychoanalysts in 1987,
is the first certificate-granting psychoanalytic training institute devoted
to self psychological research and training. Qualified members of The
Japanese Forum of Psychoanalytic Self Psychology are invited to
attend intensive course work held at TRISP with English-Japanese
translation. They can use this invaluable learning opportunity to deepen
their understanding of the self psychological analytic process.
The Forum offers the following learning opportunities.
· Self Psychology Discussion Group (twice a year, exclusive
to members)
· Peer Supervisory Groups (twice a year,
exclusive to members)
· Self Psychology Open Seminar (once a year, open to mental
health professionals)
· Intensive Self Psychology Course Work (in the US, co-
sponsored with TRISP)
The Japanese Forum of Psychoanalytic Self Psychology admits
mental health professionals of any age, race, color, sex, national,
and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, activities
generally accorded or made available to mental health professionals
at the Forum.
